What a week, why even try?

Tore up everything this week. 8540 Kubota, ran ober a log on a new farm and tore the fuel tank bracket and some hydrolic lines loose. Dealer sent a 9540 for me to use while they fix it. 3610 Ford had a flat on front tire and then the starter shorted out and burnt part of the wiring. Rolling it off to fluff hay until I have time to fix it.
Tonight 4630 ford 4X4 had a flat on front tire.
Only thing still working is the dealers tractor that he loaned me. At least the new 504M classic Vermeer roller is working great.

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. Its days like this that make you consider just buying a ZTR mower and working under the radar.

Went through that last week Kenny. Had two metal hydraulic lines rubbing under the tractor that wore a hole and dumped $100 worth of fluid on the ground. Took the lines off and braised the holes, took half a day to get them off and back on, ran for an hour and threw a fan belt. Started baling and broke a baler belt that wrapped around a roller and broke another belt. Fixed the belts and 20 bales later see a bearing smoking. Had to haul the baler to the shop to use a torch to cut the race off, with my luck I wouldn't take a chance with the torch in the hay field. Got it all back together and 30 bales later blew a head gasket on the tractor. Got another tractor hooked to the baler and made one round and had a flat. I renamed that place Sacrifice Hill. Knock on wood, I haven't had any trouble since Saturday, but I know it's coming.

SIL called tuesday as I was finishing the field mowing and said he blew an AC line on the tractor he was discing with ,that it had rubbed on the hood so. so I get there and check it out hood is also rubbing on transmission cooler so I tell him head to house with it by the time he gets to the house it has rubbed a hole in cooler
take it all apart yesterday morning and get everything fixed get home go to put all back on everything goes great until I go to put clamp on ac line and I drop it between shroud and radiator
so 3 hrs later after removing radiator and loader brackets we get it back together
also the vaccum pump I ordered so I can pull vaccum on the AC hasn't came in so I either have to take it to town and get vaccum pulled or run without AC until my pump gets in

I had one of those days today also. the guy I lease my hay field from called last week and wanted me to come cut because he said the pasture looked bad. It's so dry all the grass was brown pretty much all weeds . Anyway made two rounds and noticed the tarp leaning back . got off to tighten the 3rd member and figured out that the frame broke . so I loaded the tractor drove home welded it . went back started cutting made two more rounds and hit a tee post someone left laying in the field broke the bolts on one of the disk . so tonight I took it apart and drilled out the bolts. maybe I can get it cut tomm. if something else breaks I'm taking the batwing over to get it done .

I feel for you, and know exactly what you are going thru. Only it started last year. We went through 7 hay mowers when we finally decided to mow with bushhog. Not the best but it got done. Then one of the tractors clutch went out. Some of the hay was too ripe so we just mowed it. We spent $5000+ on repairs and still bought hay. We found a local hay producer that the cows like the hay, so we are buying it this year. The tractor with the clutch replaced now has a leak in the transmisson seal. Good luck with the rest of the season.

You folks sure have made me feel better. My tractor has been down for a month. I have been clearing palmetto fields to plant some pasture. Blew a hose on the loader/root rake so I replaced the hose and next morning the loader would raise or lower. Cleaned the system and put in new filters, worked for about 2 minutes and quit again. Cleaned the system, put in new filters again, worked for a bit and quit. Found some shavings in the rear screen, cleaned it. Drained the entire system, vacumed and reverse pumped, new filters, nothing. Wouldn't work at all. Went up to the house, got my 30/30 and put the old girl out of my misery.

I think at least half the pickups that go by here are pulling a trailer with a couple ZTR's and half a dozen weed eaters. I've got my doubts on the income potential of this enterprise.

I cut yards. It's not worth it. It's I've been doing to pay off some bills and save up some money to get a decent start. It seems like I went from 3 yards to 12 in a month. This is my third season. I have since cut back to about 8. I usually cut about 4-5 a week. This is after working a full time job and working for a farm part time. I hopefully all the blood, sweat, and tears will be worth it someday.

If it makes you feel any better Kenny, I had a blowout on my truck this morning. Doing 55. Tore up the side of my bed behind the tire and folded the sheet metal in half. Then my spare was flat. Filled it up with air and then discovered it had a hole in it. Plugged it with my last plug only to discover another small hole leaking. Yep, its monday

Best darn thing I have bought in all my farming life. Rolling hay is a pleasure with it. Just drive and it does the rest. Vermeer 504M Classic Silage for anyone wondering.

well my monday went like this
had a150 acres of hay down and started baling got 25 acres baled and along comes a thunder storm and drops 3/4 of an inch in 40 minutes
70 acres of the 150 was ready to bale and the other 80 I had just cut sunday nite and monday morning
so I got about 50 acres that was ready to go soaked

this system was only about 1/4 mile wide and had to be right over some of my hayfields neighbor down the road a mile only got a tenth heck if that was all I had got I probably wouldn't of quit baling

Had another one of those days today . Looks like we have several days next week with a good chance of rain . My tifton and coastal fields have already bolted . It's only about 10 inches tall but I decided to cut it . Lowered the cutter went 20 feet and the right door exploded . Hit a rock . My wife mowed down the side of our rock driveway . Instead of blowing the grass clippings toward the driveway like I ask her to she blew the clippings and a few rocks into the hay field . I came in and ask her about it and she said yes I turned away from the driveway because the dry clippings look bad lol . Well I'm gonna let her write the check for the door . Maybe next time she will listen. Hopefully .
