Wake at sunrise, make coffee, look out back and see my oldest cow in the field about to drop her calf yesterday. Hold on, wrong pasture. So I figure I'll drink my coffee before we put her back in with the others. We walk out to her and I see she gathered up a pile of dead leaves under a giant oak, to birth on. So I go get a garden cart full of hay for her up at the barn and on my way back to her, my wife yells "to late!" So I gave them some nice dry stuff to eat and lay on away from the others for a while before I put her them back into the correct pasture after breakfast.
Going back up to the house to have another coffee after feeding everyone else, in the correct pasture, I hear a moo that wasn't hers. We turn to see the new mommy surrounded by the rest, so we spent the rest of the day (our 24th anniversary) fixing fence.
Wouldn't have it any other way...
