I sat and watched for a while yesterday. I wasn't taking notes, but a few stuck in my head that I thought were particularly high:
A black baby calf (don't remember if it was a bull or heifer), couldn't have been more than 3 days old and was supposed to have been started on a bottle, weighed 55 lbs. Sold by the head for $300.00.
Tiger-striped heifer calf, looked like an F1 Brahman x Hereford. I didn't think she was a particularly good calf, but some people go crazy for those tiger-stripes. 300 lbs at $3.00 per pound. I know she may be worth $2000.00 at some point, but that's a long time from now and a big maybe.
A bull, don't remember the color or breed, 2260lbs at $1.29.
On the other hand, they sold several nice-looking long-bred cows, 4 - 7 years old, and I don't think any of them brought over $1575. I'd have thought they'd have been a little higher with weaning age calves easily bringing $1000.
