There's no such thing as a dumb question. I don't show, my wife does that, but I fit the horses and do anything else I can. On Saturday my wife's 3 yr old QH mare won second in 2 & 3 yr old halter and our yearling Paint stallion won second in Yearling Stallion Halter. On Sunday my 3 yr old Paint mare won second in halter and the horse that beat her came into the class about five minutes late and one of the judges said it was ok to let her in. I don't agree with that, but I am still happy with the placing. Then our yearling Paint stallion won Reserve Champion Stallion, the stallion that beat him on Saturday won Overall Champion so the placings were fair. My wife was going to ride her mare, but she cut the sole on a front hoof and would limp if ridden. We have another show coming up in a couple of weeks that she should be able to ride in. The funny thing is that usually show horses have their manes chopped to a coupld of inches, well I wouldn't let my wife cut my mares mane. I trimmed it nice, brushed it out, got all of the loose hairs along her mane crest to lay down, and the she was shown with full mane. I told my wife if the judge said anything to point to me in the stands and to say, "Go ask him"> :D She's a working horse 360 days a year and a show horse 5, plus what would the cattle say about her when she came back with a hair cut?
