Weed/grass ID

I have a very poor phone with a very poor camera but here goes, this grass is growing here and there, mostly where the rowcrop used to be. It looks very similar to Johnsongrass until the seed head comes out, it is way thicker and stubbier. Growing in same places as Johnsongrass and Crabgrass. Like I say, this pic is pretty bad but here goes,

I have that grass to, and it is just as you describe. They will actually eat it pretty good, till it starts to seed out. The seed head has a weird texture to it as well. It is kinda uncomfortable to squeeze it in your hand. Seems to only make the party in the wettest of years.

I think you are correct. I don't think it's the bad common kind though (different kinds apparently?), looks like the Google pics, thanks

Pic is hard to see, but I had a wetter grain field nearly completely choked out by barnyard grass this yr. What a mess.
