My son has a 6 month 1 day old simbrah bull calf. We weighted him today and he weighted 670 lbs. How average is his weight? I know most simbrah breeders wait until 7 months to wean. He is really pulling his dam down. Do you think he is okay to wean him now?

From the simbrahs I've seen (I haven't see too many) but this is including my current steer, somewhere in the 600s at about 6 months old is pretty average. Though it could have been just this one breeder. My steer was weaned about 6 months and a week or so of age and was around 600# at that time.

From what I've seen around here, 6 months is a pretty typical age for weaning. I don't see where you should have a problem weaning this calf at his current age, especially considering his weight. Just my thoughts.
