September and October calves,
Most of these are by our BWF bull,
The rwf is out of a Beefmaster x Hereford cow.
The little dinky heifer is out of a SimAngus heifer and a smaller black bull I had. The other SimAngus heifer had a good calf by the same bull.
Hoping the market holds up for another month or so till we can get these sold F6635FEC-E5FA-4632-A6A8-4934BDC9009D.jpegD495CA50-1554-4BA9-900D-493ECC680FF7.jpegBB670D07-EDC3-435A-9A0E-57B194E7655E.jpegF32C169F-57B8-45B0-8EC2-E354F11D4659.jpegCB809147-B13B-4286-9352-3C587C5A8721.jpegE9F5480B-99DE-4858-89F7-30F70C0D3718.jpegCA482B0F-89D1-4D45-AF4D-6D5980EA0A35.jpeg

Around here there is a shortage of grazing calves. Prices are holding real steady. Come fall, I think there's gonna be another jump. And the bigger calves that have grazed all summer are going to be worth a lot as well.

I hope it stays good for a while.

We will be bringing in and weaning a bunch the end of the month. Cows due in late Sept... but as soon as we get done with this first cutting hay we will have the time to get them in and done. Probably going to ship all the steers after weaning... usually in Aug there is a lull in cattle being shipped and prices have been good. We are dry here, have had some rain but not alot... would rather hold the heifers for a bit than the steers with the prices they have been bringing. We'll see what we have at the time.
Fed out all the corn silage this spring, and won't have any in the bunk until late late fall... just planted the corn.
Can't buy any of the "odd bulls" and such like we usually do to make steers and then put together groups... prices are just too high. What with being a bit concerned about the moisture on pasture, we will be watching prices and such.
We are getting along great with hay making, but there is less. Not much spring rain so height is shorter... and we are earlier making it so better quality but not as much quantity. It is a balancing act.
