Going to wean calfs this week. After the cows dry up I want to put several calfs back in the same pasture with thier mothers and the rest go to town. My question is...... if the weaned calfs start to nurse again .......will the cow start producing milk again ?

Maybe a little. If one starts to nurse it needs to grow wheels. If 6-8 weeks isn;t enough time a year probably wouldnt be long enough either

Thanks Dun, I was hoping if they did want to nurse again, the cow would kick it off.
That's one of THOSE deals. Some will - some won;t. I;ve never had a cow that would wean a calf herself but I hear of others that have ones that will.
