Morning all. I woke this am with something stuck in my craw that has been on my mind for a while. Why is it that "new and improved" in NOT! Everything we touch is no longer any good. I recall some oldtimers that worked at a cereal plant that made corn flakes. They told me that the originals were actually flakes of a kernal of corn. But someone decided that it would be "better" to seperate the parts of the kernal, sell off the best parts, and use the dust that was left, then add back cheaper ingredients. Which they did but I can't eat the stuff if gives me the sheits. That brings up another thing, eating in restruants. It has been determined that we need our food cooked in a different kind of oil. I hate eating a meal that I haven't even payed for that is leaving my body. Violently. How about automobiles. They sure have a lot of comforts built in, along with stuff no one knows how to fix. But gas mileage hasn't changed much since I started driving 40 years ago.And the vehicles cost today more than a house. Next on my list is so called "Country Music". It is not. Nuff said about that. I seems that John Q is deemed not be smart enough to know what he wants. So I've tried to let some of the ones' in charge know how I feel. It's like talking to a stump. Our Gov. is also tops on the list of ones that think they know what we need better than ourselves and when we say something it falls on deaf ears. Well, thanks for taking the time, I guess I feel better getting that said. Hope you have a good day.KB

My big gripe is someone trying to save my life all the time. Seat belts, motorcycle helemts, the list can go on forever. I been hurt a lot, but it's always my fault, not someone's else's. Leave me alone, I'm a big guy, well kinda skinny, but I can take care of my self. gs

I think that we're fortunate to have been born into just the right generation, in that we will be gone before it gets really bad. The way things are going, in another 10 or 15 years we will be living in the "Russia" that they taught us about in school back in the '50s.

Just keep telling yourself that Michelle knows best what's good for us............. :hide:

I used to do some work in advertising and formulated a rule to live by.
If they still have to advertise a product after it's been introduced.
IT'S CRAP!
The more money spent on advertising, the less the product.
A little slice of proof?
Look how much money is spent advertising Mickey D's and politicians.

It's all here to...perhaps they think we need a little hand as they have messed up our Education system, taken away our rights to teach discipline, good manors, religion and so forth. so we need a little guidance to get by.... :bang:

Amen kickinbull.

My question is how are they doing this to us. We are not a few, we are the silent majority. I, for one, am very tired of constantly getting the shaft. Are we not screaming loud enough? Maybe our manners are getting in the way. I am completely disgusted and I second the notion that the more advertising the less product. Perhaps we should all vote for the politician that spends the least?

They are hellbent on saving us from ourselves, we are no longer responsible for our own fate.
Kids get wrapped up in cotton wool with so much personal protection gear, they think that they are invincible, instead of learning survival through commonsense and fear of getting hurt. eg put a kid on a motorbike in their suit of armour and it's full throttle even without familiarisation with it.

I know some of us grew up that way without the suit of armor....

Seat belt law is an easy tax to impose on someone. Its not for our safety but to save the insurance company money. I doubt any of us play golf with the insurance commissioner but I guarantee you many insurance employees do. Don't believe it? Just try to file a complaint and see who they defend.

I tell you what kinda gripes me about the seatbelt law. (Motorcycle people dont take this in a bad way. I rode bikes for years ) In my travels through different states I see many states that do not have a helmet law for motorcycle riders. The same lawmakers and police that will give me a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt will allow motorcycle riders not to wear a helmet. I just dont see the logic in that except for the revenue. Your right Jogee its not about safety at all.

I believe, In Fla. you can ride without a helmet only if you have $10,000 worth of health insurance. Many think its legal regardless. I do agree, me not wearing a seatbelt hurts nobody but me. Let it be my choice.

Seatbelts, had I been wearing one years ago when I rolled me and the ford 1/2 ton.. I'd be watching you from above (hopefully above -lol). Driver side was crushed!!

Drug Companies..!!! Better keep my mouth shut!

The only way to control the population is to put us under their thumbs.. which they have successfully done and most have successfully accepted the position.

I was wearing a seatbelt when I rolled my '75 VW Scirocco. Rolled it end over, aided by a deep ditch. After a deep breath, I unbuckled and climbed out. I wear the belts. It is a habit. Since I have farm plates I'm exempt from the seat belt law but I wear them anyway.
Indiana had a helmet law for a few years but the bikers organized and got it repealed. Now the legislature doesn't even consider another go at that.

I glad they saved you... they also saved my mom and dad from a crash that made the highway patrolman afraid to look! It just so happened that it would have killed me in that seat when the truck rolled over and over and over (not end to end) . I sometimes wonder if it's 50-50 on whether they really save more lives.

I am another one who was saved by me seatbelt when I rolled my car. I was also saved by my helmet when my horse went down, came up, flipped and my helmet hit the ground first and he ploughed me 6 foot along it.

But I hate the safety guards on tractors and machinery. The David Brown without them is so much easier to change implements with.

y'all need to have a good listen to George Carlin... man does that man hit the nail on the head on so many points... the saddest thing about his life is he's considered a comedian..

If it wasn't for a crash helmet my Husband wouldn't be here now. When he was knocked off of his motorbike it was his helmet that saved his head from crashing to the ground first. He spent three days in hospital with a whip lash to his neck and had three cracked ribs, gashes to his arms and legs and the gravel on the road cut up his leathers. I thank God there are laws making you wear Crash helmets and seat belts, best thing ever in my opinion.

It's been a while, but here we go again. The USPS has decided to close a lot of smaller post offices. One being here in our local community. We live 2 miles from the PO and do a lot of business with them, but get our mail from 15 miles in another city. When we asked why they said that's just the way it was. Right across the road from us is another house, and 7 other mailboxes for a road they don't go down. Every single day the folks in the house have to deliver mail to another box. Weekly we receive someone elses mail, or they get ours. We confronted the carrier, "oh well".
At the meeting last nite, they told what they are going to do. Close this PO. Set up a postal station, the carrier we have now will be in charge of the station. Everyone who works at the local PO will still have a job, but they will have to move. Those in attendance grew frustrated, and finally asked, why the meeting, you already decided what you are doing. Answer, " glad for the turn out, best one so far for small community." How much longer are we going to take being treated like idiots?.

On another note, at Stuff-mart today, we went to check out, 3 cashiers 50 people waiting. I went to the customer service and asked for some service, they said, it's a scheduling thing, we have called for someone to come to the front but no one showed up. The phones were ringing off the wall. It was people standing in line. lol. It's bad enough that the prices of everthing in there is too much.

I guess I am done for tonight, KB

Bikers should wear helmets. Modern bikers are a classy crowd and they should put more value on their noggins. I would. I rode when my state had a helmet law. Accidents happen. The best rider can have an accident. Why not give yourself a chance to survive?

And USPS wonders why they are going BROKE! They have to figure out how to deliver mail before they can be successful! We mailed a car payment well in advance and it showed up undeliverable in our mailbox on the due date. We panicked and called the company. Luckily , they believed us and did not charge the $35 late fee. The address we used our company confirmed was correct, they could not understand why the PO stamped it undeliveralble as addressed... :bang: Best one they've pulled yet... couldn't deliver a letter addressed across the street from the PO for 3 WEEKS!!! :devil2:
Valerie
Paying my bills over the phone or via internet NO MORE USPS for me.
