We're looking buying about 60 acres of good rolling pasture land that has 2 ponds that are rain water fed. There are no other water sources except a well that we will dig and have for our water source. Does anyone know how or currently use well water to get water for their cattle? If so how are you doing it?

All of the water for our cattle has always been provided by use of a well. When we had the ranch, all of the pastures were supplied with water using wind-driven windmills to pump the water. We had supply tanks that stored the water, and floats on the tanks that would allow the tanks to refill. You can also accomplish the same thing using a submersible pump a lot more reliably, without the need for a supply tank. I don't have any experience with them, but I would imagine they work on the same principle as a pressure pump. I don't know what they are powered with. If the 60 acres has access to electricity, you can also use a pressure pump to pump water out of the well and into the tanks. A float will keep the tanks from running over.

We use both well and developed springs.
Our well has a submersible pump in it. It is electrical, there is a pressure tank that works on a pressure switch that kicks off and on by the amount of pressure in the tank. It is 200 feet deep.
Our spring was developed way back in the 30's.
Don't forget to have the well water tested to make sure it is potable and check for nitrates.
