Washington Redskins name change announced

Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins NFL team, has
announced that the team name will be changed. Surveys have shown that the word
'Washington' imparts a negative image of corruption, cheating, indecision, betrayal,
unfaithfulness, adultery, fornication, lying, hypocrisy and perversion. The name is
therefore not suitable for football fans to emulate.

The team will now be simply known as The Redskins

Daniel Snyder also stated that in a continuing series of letters received from Indian tribal leaders from all over the United States during the past months, they have also overwhelmingly expressed their desire to have the "Washington" name removed from the team. The tribal leaders cited a long history of broken promises and treaties, failed government programs and a burdensome U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs as their reasons. Mr. Snyder said that he is more than happy to comply with the tribal leaders wishes.
