Warbex?

I've got a partial old jug of Warbex a friend gave me. I was going to try it on a year 1 a half year old heifer that has warts pretty bad on her head. Has anyone used this product if so does it work for warts? What is the self life? Thanks B&G

It isn;t for warts. It's for warbles, aka ox warbles, aka cattle grubs. The larve of heel flys that are usually just under the skin on the back. Won;t do any good now, but in the fall it will be effective if you have warbles. Don;t want to do it too late in the fall, about 6 weeks after heel fly season is about right. Later then that and you run the chance of them being in sensitive areas that if they die they can cause health issues with the animal.

Warbex was darn good stuff in its day. That said, your Warbex must be 20 yrs old if it is a day and I would be a little hesitant to use it. It could have broken down chemically over the years, perhaps becoming even more potent stuff :idea:

Does it still look and smell like it should :?: It should smell absolutely awful in the first place, DO NOT take too big a whiff :shock: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

I haven't seen a warble since back around 1980.
Haven't seen Warbex since about 1985; not sure that it's still on the market in the USA - but if so, the only approved use is for treatment of lice and grubs.

Not sure I'd risk putting some 30-yr old organophosphate solution on my cows. I'd check with the local ag extension agent about best method for safe disposal.

Lucky_P, Time gets away from me. I think you're right, it's been closer to 30 years. I know Warbex was discontinued because I bought some of the last available and had ehough supply to last a couple more years.

The stuff was nasty, but it worked. Bonus was when Warbex was applied in late August thru Sept it was great at finishing off flies for the season.
