I don't get down when we lose a calf or a cow but I always try to do it better next time. Calf up and going but when it sucks milk just comes running back out. Nothing I can do for it and won't be fun to put it down. Heifer is loving on it, wants it and I got a buddy has a twin so I'm going to take cow to him. Haven't heard back from Simmental or Angus is it has a genetic link or not......

Guess guy prays that's only problem of the year. 4 others on ground doing good in this frigid weather!

He said not, his wife is a does alot of differnt surgeries and he talked to her last night and neither are aware of anyone that can do anything.

I would check and see if a vet university near you wanted it to study or use experimental surgery. if the just euthanized it and studied it would be one less thing for you to have to deal with. then again I it may be easier for you to get rid of it.

I'd heard that this is a common deformation caused by cattle eating low doses of hemlock early in pregnancy..may be worth checking the pastures this spring..

Sheesh, with all the emails I have been getting about reporting deformed calves, you think they would get back to you. I would wait as long as you can, to hear and see if they want tissues. The ear and a blood sample I think is what I have heard.
