I threw all my pumpkins out in the pasture last fall in the hopes that the chickens or donks would make them into a tasty snack. Didn't happen and the pumpkins just rotted out there. Now I have about eight clumps of pumpkins growing out there. We went ahead and fenced them off to keep them from being trampled on, and I thinned them out and watered them yesterday.

Am I wasting my time or can I maybe get pumpkins volunteer out of this? I am not holding my breath or anything, but it sure would be nice.

If they were not a hybrid variety, you have a good chance they will be ok, otherwise you will just have to wait and see what happens.

Maybe you will discover the next best pumpking variety from the rotten pumpkin patch.
