Vitaferm...anyone here ever heard it? I ran across some info on it the other day. It is a mineral program by a company called Biozyme. They are located in St. Joseph, Missouri.

They have a product called Amamferm. As I read it on there web site "A Natural feed additive multi-step fermenation process of a proprietary strain of Aspergillua Oryzae." "It stimulates both the bacteria and fungi in the rumen." All of that is a bit "Greek" to me.

What caught my attention was it suppose to increase forage digestibility by more than 10%

The web site is http://www.vitaferm.com

I'm sure there are some smarter people here the me :) . Is this B.S.??

I've used a lot of Amaferm and it is a good product and performs as advertised. You'll probably just have to hunt products that have the Amaferm in it tho. They make some mineral mixes as well as some protein tubs containing it. It's expensive and will raise your feed cost some but cattle only need 3 gr. per head per day.

We used vitaferm minerals for years and were well pleased. Can;t get them around here anymore.

I've used Vitaferm minerals for several years. Cows love it, get and stay bred, and calves seem to bounce right up when they hit the ground compared to the days before I used it.

We're close to St. Joe and there's always mineral salesmen coming around and saying "Our product is every bit as good as Vitaferm." I always reply "Then why don't I just use Vitaferm if every mineral is compared to it?" gs

Heck dun you can't be that far from Rogersville.
It's better then an hour from us. Unless I'm going to a sale anything over 15 minutes is tooooooo far

So your saying the 10% increase in forage digestibility is true? Do you guys feed it year round or only during breeding?

It literally increases the digestiblility of everything the cow/calf eats. Will increase butterfat in dairy cattle 2-3/10 as well along with a small increase in milk. Several companies sell cooked molasses tubs with Amaferm included...try them. Only problem is that like maky things the benefits are sometimes hard to measure.
