Guess a lot of you have already seen the latest news...the gunman that killed at least 32 people and wounded around 15 others before killing himself at Virginia Tech! :shock:

Just another tragic example of those paranoid sociopaths out there (any age, any religion, any education, any profession, any financial status, etc.) that for often some unknown reason they decide to go on a killing rampage.

Fortunately, some kill themselves in the process and save us from the costs of a trial and punishment. On the other hand, when they are dead, you can't "purge their brain" to attempt to find out what motivates these nut cases.

I think "some" of the underlying psychological problems include:

• 1. Low self-esteem and self-alienation and killing feeds their need for control and power.
  2. Paranoid personality: Delusions of grandeur, persecution, or messages from "their" supreme being?
  3. Retaliation for some perceived injustice (see #2).
  4. Feeling of hopelessnes and boxed in with no perceive way of escaping (see also, "suicide by cop" phenomenon). Also the notion of "learned helplessness".
  5. Displaced aggression against some other person or object (they can't "do it" to the other one, so they do it to strangers).
  6. Perceived injustices from a boss, parent, other race, teacher, minister, or other authority figure.
  7. Some, in fact, might just be "born to kill" (perhaps a genetic mutation).
  8. A "homicidal sociopath" (ability to fool others as to their intents, thoughts, etc., through an acceptable personality, faux normal behavior communications, etc.).
  9. Etc., Etc.

Gun control (for law-abiding citizens) is NOT the answer here. Laws are not the answer here. THESE sick individuals will always find a way to sneak through the system, obtain weapons, and carry out their sick behaviors, regardless of what we do. We can only hope to better educate people more, increase our awareness, have (unfortunately) need to tighten our security and monitoring at places.

As citizens we must continue to be cognizant of the fact that tragedies such will continue to happen, in spite of our best efforts. Fortunately, they rarely occur...it just seems they are happening more often...

If only one student or Prof in that building had been packing it probabally would not have gone as far as it did. If the gunman had of thought that there was the real probability that someone would start shooting back it might not have happened at all. These nuts might be willing to die but they want to be in control and do it within their own timeframe.Z

The way I look at, is Drugs are illegal, but I'll guarandamteeya, you could drive less than a mile from here and but all the Dope you want.

If the noose gets tighter on us respectable law abiding folks, the scumbags that have a loose screw, will still find a way to buy a Gun.

Too bad there was not an armed student there today that could have stopped this Rabid Dog before he got a chance to bite.

The only real way to stop the waste of life cowards, is to start executing the Maggots on death rows, all over the Country to let Criminals know we mean business.We need to find a way to rid society of these type monsters before they attack, wish I had the answers, and the means to do something about it. :mad:

FOX news is now reporting that the shooter was a 25 year old Chinese Nationalist that had been in the US less than a year on a student Visa- with no "known" terrorist connections....

Here's a Plan!!

• 1. Train each teacher & principal in use of handguns, including self-defense gun-fighting. Issue them duty handguns.
  2. Train a Cadre of one upperclassman in each room similarly.
  3. Issue 9mm or .40 SA handguns to each, with extra clip.
  4. Conduct weekly firing practice on Saturdays for all involved.
  5. Let them WEAR the handgun in a visible holster while on duty.
  6. EXEMPT them from lawsuits or criminal action IF one takes out a violent perpetrator.
  7. Indoctrinate parents, community citizens (especially the Liberal tree-huggers) that the educational environment is a potential war zone.
  8. Metal detectors at all building entrances.
  9. Drug & Explosive detecting dogs handled by police at all building entrances and property entries.
  10. Security fence & gates around all educational institution property with guards at entry.
  11. Closed circuit TV monitoring all property.
  12. Armed night patrols with guard dogs after hours.
  13. Significant cash reward to any student, parent, or employee that hears of some crazy student's plan and thinking.
  14. Install undercover cops (that look like teenagers) to attend classes, student centers, other activities to watch for stuff.
  

Of course...such will never happen in my lifetime and I can just imagine the flak, outrages, etc., etc., by those that disagree with any of the above (or any other) ideas.

Still...some dedicated nut-case would STILL find a way to do harm to others...

Coming out. I am not the shooter. Through this experience, I have received numerous death threats, slanderous accusations, and my phone is out of charge from the barrage of calls. Local police have been notified of the situation.

My original intention was to wait until I got AdSense on my site and donating all the proceeds to Charity. However, this situation has now spiraled out of control. I am now confirming that I am not the shooter. I will be available for interview by a news agency to clear my name, talk about the experience, and give my opinion on how the situation could have turned out better if other students were allowed to be armed. I will only speak with individuals who are interested in donating to charities resulting from today's events. Please e-mail all correspondence to [email protected]

Heard something on radio tonight about last year Virginia senate had proposed a law saying that students at Virginia tech with cancel carry permits would be able to carry their guns on campus even though it was a closed campus to gun carrying. They said that the legislation did not even make it to a vote before it was shot down.

Now the Gun control fanatics are all over this before the bodies are even cold. When in reality their might have been a chance that lives could have been saved if it was not for the strict gun control rules the college enforced.

I know when I went to college 20 + years ago, many kids had guns in back of their trucks, many times during winter months I had a shotgun with me to quail hunt after classes were over.

FOX News has brought that issue up several times that I heard today-- that if just one student or professor would have had a gun (even if it had been in violation of the closed college law) much of this disaster may have been avoided...

Why would executing people on death row stop someone that intended to kill them self? Giving anyone in the teaching profession (If you can call it that) arms is the worst idea of all.

No, the government hasn't 'conditioned' us to expect this - the majority of the people have demanded this because they are no longer willing to take responsibility for their own lives.

thats exactly right. A lot of people in America are thinking that the government "owes" them something.. or should do something about everything! its called flat out laziness...
Do something for yourself.. get a gun, learn how to use it.. join the NRA.. support "right to carry".
Things like this have happened all through history, and will continue to. There will always be "sick" individuals like that guy, who did this; but he is no different than a man or woman who kills his family or boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband.. or whoever... and turns it on himself. Its just a pure tragedy to all involved in those circumstances.

A change in the laws is needed.

You kill with a gun...AUTOMATIC death sentence.

You do ANY crime with a gun....mimimum 20 years no parole.

Our sick society doesn't have the guts to do it.

Obviously, we are not going to come up with a solution to this, here on this forum. Even if we could, would the government listen? I think not.

While, I can't say this particular situation came from this, I believe, when the rights of parents to punish their children were taken away, it opened the door for scenarios such as this. Afterall, it is possible to punish without abusing.

Wasn't it the NRA that used the adage, "when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns."?

I also believe strongly in this one, "they will take my guns, only when they pry them from my cold dead fingers."
