I was checking a hayfield early this morning and the sun was just peeking over the trees. I stepped out of the truck and stood in shin deep grass and looked around at the beautiful view of the sunrise then all of the sudden my foot started vibrating. :shock: Wouldn't you know it. Out of all the places I could have stopped in the field I had to stop next to a rattlesnake and of course that dark devious prankster that sometimes guides my actions put my foot right on top of it! Thankfully, it WAS right on top of it. Because of this, the only thing he could do was wiggle his tail which gave me the vibration in my boot. After a quick look down to see what I already knew was there I lept into the air, said a few words to the guys in the space station and came down in the other end of the field. Gee! If you have ever stepped on one you will never ever forget the rolling mushing feel of its body under your foot. Aarrrghshiver.

So be careful. And yes for you snake lovers, its still out there alive and biting. Seems it got away while I was waxing the outside of the space station.

I had the same thing happen to me this past spring, was weedeating a bank and felt my boots shake then vibrate :o looked down and nice size black snake underme. I jumped through the the roof, threw down weedeater (shattered gas tank) and ran for the hills! :help: One thing i dont like is snakes very sickening feeling. :frowns:
 
I've stepped on a copperhead twice while squirrel hunting. Both thimes I was lucky to step on them so close to their head they couldn't bite me. The first time it scared me so bad that I jumped to the side and emptied the autoloader 12 gauge and missed all three shots. Next time I just put the barrel down beside my foot on top of the snake and pulled the trigger. Didn't miss that time. :D
 
Its an aweful feeling isn't it. I mean when you feel it - you know what's down there and you just hope you got enough of his head to save you.
 
Jogee, that thing is plum danged scary . One thing about it that thing would have to bite me through a pile of crap, becuse that is exactly what I would do .

If you ever put one of your hands on one of those Vibrating things you will soon learn that its an out of body experience. Yes , i got bite by a copper head. My fingers looked like king sized hot dogs for several days. The only thing i can say is .... Be Careful.

I about stepped on a copperhead one time. I didn't realize I could freeze in mid step, then immediately hop backwards.

Bleach works wonders on your drawers but what about the stains on my boots? :lol2:

I've thought about this some. From a statistical standpoint, anyone have any idea of what the probability of this happening is? I mean its gotta to be an extremely low probability of this happening. Why? Why me? If only it was a lottery ticket. Stains would be the same but I could afford new drawers. :lol2:

For the entire population, the odds are extremely low--but that would include folks in NYC and Minnesota.
For the subset of S GA foresters, farmers and outdoorsmen, I'd guess the odds are you will step on a snake at some point. :welcome:
