Help Support CattleToday:

For what it's worth, the Gourman Report ranks them like this:

1. Cal-Davis
2. Cornell
3. Penn
4. Ohio State
5. Colorado St
6. Michigan St
7. Iowa State
8. Minnesota
9. Purdue
10. Missouri
11. Texas A&M
12. Wisconsin
13. Illinois

Other schools mentioned so far:

15. Kansas St
16. Georgia
17. LSU
20. Auburn
21. Florida
25. Oklahoma St

Note: The edition I have is ten years old, and I have no idea what criteria they use to come up with their rankings.

Everyone will tell you their favourite, for whatever reason. Frankly, if you are in the US and you go out of state, it will cost more (a LOT more). Some states have affiliations with nearby state's veterinary colleges, so that would be the one to go to.

Also, it depends on what you want to specialize in. For instance, there's an amazing oncology department at Colorado State. University of Guelph/Ontario Veterinary College is my Alma Mater, so of course I'm biased there. For straight large animal, tho, Saskatoon has the better rep in Canada. (sorry PEI)

I have a friend who is trying to get into vet school, she wants to go straight large animal, lives in Texas and isn't even considering A&M, so maybe a visit to the colleges you're considering would be good as well.
