Vacation Pictures

Wow! What a vacation. We traveld through Texas to Albuquerque, on across New Mexico and Arizona to the Hoover Dam and back to the Grand Canyon and across northern Arizona and New Mexico back home.

Picture descriptions: 1. Stream in NE New Mexico, 2. Three Sisters at Monument Valley, Utah, 3. Grand Canyon from the South Rim, 4. Rain Shower near Flagstaff, Arizona, 5. Painted Desert in NE Arizona, 6. De Neri Church in Old Town area on Albuquerque (oldest church in NM -- oldest church in US just NE of this one), and 7. Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas.

Is that church the one with the wooden spiral staircase that looks like it just suspending in air because of the way it was designed and built?

Not sure about the staircase, but here's a little more information. The Old Town area of Albuquerque was wonderful. There are lots of shops, museums, restuarants, etc. I wished we had had more time to look around.

San Felipe de Neri church, founded in 1706, was originally located across the street, where Don Luis Plaza stands today. In 1793, the present church was built. San Felipe de Neri presently has 800 registered families and has been in continuous use for almost 300 years. It is on both the National and State register of Historical Properties. The church is open to the public daily. Masses are held: Sat 5:30 pm, Sun 7:00 am, 8:30 am (in Spanish), and 10:15 am. The Church Museum (located in back patio) is open Mon-Sat 10-4. Donations are accepted.

I saw the pic of the cadallacs out there in Amarillo. My son goes to school out there and, much to my delight and disbelief, (he ws never an outfoor person), he really likes it there. I find it uplifting to get out there in the middle of the Panhandle. It is so isolated and untamed. I think I once used the work "raw" to describe it.

BTW, my son said that the guy who did the caddie thing was pretty strange and that he keeps himself surrounded by young men, skates, pucks, that sort of guy. He said people seem a little fearful of him. I can't remember his name this early. Marsh? Just what he said. I don't really know.

Stanley Marsh, and I agree you'd have to be pretty strange to just bury a brand new Cady, much less nine of them. Oh, the things the make you go "Hmmmmm"! :idea:
