Is will be my first year raising/showing. I've read up on neck sweats and I. Wondering if I should invest in one. I'll be raising a dairy feeder steer and a jersey heifer. The feeder steer will be a Holstein born in January. The fair will be in July so he will be about 6- 7 months old. At this age will a neck sweat be beneficial? Thanks in advance

I've never heard of neck sweats being used on dairy cattle before. They do work well on fat beef cattle to slim the throat latch down some. Maybe someone who has shown dairy stock will chime in on the topic....

It really depends on the animal. I could see it being beneficial on a dairy heifer, but it is not something I've ever seen personally. Same deal with the dairy steer.

Thanks to both of you, it's my first year so I'm just trying to learn. I wasn't planning on using iron the heifer but thought about it for the steer. If no one else uses them, then I guess it's not worth the investment for me
