Was working behind my house yesterday evening. Yard is fenced on three sides with my drive way coming off a county road. My house sits right in the middle of the 1 acre and I have a turn around area to park that can park 6 vehicles.

Yesterday evening while working in my back yard a UPS delivery van comes whipping into the back yard making a U turn in my yard on my grass that I am trying to get looking like a golf course.

Pissed me off like you would not believe. In the past I have had hundreds of deliveries made to my house and the drivers as far as I know have always done as I myself and anybody else has done turn around where my parking area is.

But this idiot as far as I know is the first one I saw do something like that. I have worked evenings for over 35 years so there might have been a lot of others that has done that very same thing as this UPS driver did.

I am surprised one has not drove over my septic tank. Guess I need to check and see if maybe that has not happened.
 
UPS drivers on grass is a major no-no. That is not even a thought that should cross his mind. Used to, if you drove across someone's lawn, and left indentions, not mud ruts, you had to go fill them back in. You can always go to court if he did damage, and have them repair what he messed up. Might not take money, but he can shovel horse manure in the indentions he made.
Call in a complaint and it should get it stopped.
 
The fedex drivers are the ones you have be concerned about here. They can be wild on the interstates with those piggy back trailers, flying along whipping in and out of lanes in traffic with those trailers road walking.
One evening last summer, I was out in the barn feeding, and saw a fedex truck come up the driveway and it sat there for a while and then another truck came around from the other driveway entrance and they said they were just unloading boxes from one to the other truck.
We thought it was strange that they decided to use our backyard as a transition place.
Then a couple weeks ago I was washing my boots off ready to go back to the house after feeding, and I saw a FedEx truck flying by and all of a sudden made an abrupt stop on the road just past our second driveway entrance. They threw it in reverse and floored it toward the driveway, but missed the driveway by almost the truck width, I was hoping they didn’t turn it over in the ditch line. Then they got pretty much on the driveway by the time they come about halfway of it and delivered a package and sped off.

I just don’t want them or anyone else do it for any reason. I don’t want any money for damages. Yes it did leave tire impressions in my yard, not real deep but noticeable enough I will notice them when I mow for the first couple times this summer.

What bothers me the most about the whole deal is the driver drove on past the end of my driveway onto my front yard and had to back that UPS van up another 30 foot into my front yard and like I have posted on here. I not only drilled my pastures in Bermuda grass but also drilled my yard in Bermuda grass also. And it being such a small area ( approximately 1 acre with the house sitting in the center and a couple of big oak shade trees. It’s harder to maneuver the tractor pulling the drill. Than a wide open pasture. I also have a shop building and a stall I built for a injured horse we tried saving.

It’s not about money or hate for a delivery service. It’s about the out and out disrespect and the show of no remorse that driver had for someone’s property. And I did call the UPS number they have listed to report stuff like that but I got the impression they could care less and was put out because I called them.

That driver drove and rutted up at least 75 yards of ruts by doing what he done and I can’t for the life of me understand why.

I siplicity told them very clearly UPS had better NEVER roll into my property for any reason ever again. My wife was upset because I told them that and reminded me that I wouldn’t be getting my bird house gourds delivered now because of what told them. Thought to myself I can’t win for losing.

I immediately called the company I ordered the bird houses from and didn’t get an answer. Recording said they were closed. I left a voicemail and by some miracle the very guy that got my order returned my message or call.

He looked my order up on the computer and by luck my order was shipped through FedX.

I have had hundreds of deliveries shipped over the years to my house. Some from Amazon that arrived by Semi that they parked on the county road and unloaded my order, a pressure washer right at my driveway, had UPS make numerous deliveries. What was the deal with this driver ? It was pretty easy for him to pull in my circle drive like all the rest has over the years. But No ! This driver has to drive 75 yards on across my yard and turn around !!! What to hell !!! ?

Wish he had of ! The package he delivered was a box about 6 “ x 6 “ that contained a bottled on medication for my wife. And the box weighed less than one pound. He could have stopped at the bottom of the driveway and walked the 30 yards and left in
In my shop where he left the package and where we always instruct them to leave them.
 
I worked for UPS one Christmas for some extra coin. My thighs hurt like mad after that, getting up and down out of the truck a hundred times a day. Then they wanted to hire me just after I started another job. I always wondered if I made a mistake sticking with the other one. One thing I've always wondered about is there don't seem to be any retired UPS drivers. I've wondered if the company works them to death so they don't live to retire...

If I could have got his name I would have had a police report made and if nothing done about it. I think I would have taken UPS to small claims court no that I think about it. But at the time it happened I was a couple hundred yards away on my tractor when I say this happen and he was long gone just 5 minutes after I saw him turning around in my yard.
 
I am done using UPS, they may be cheaper than FedX but there is nothing I need bad enough to ever use them again.
 
My uncle always said watch those UPS drivers when they have to come to your door for a signature. He said they are trained to act like they have ants in their pants to get your hurry up.
 
You had a delivery by a driver that did a bad thing. That is not a thing that is unknown to happen. The UPS company does not want that to happen any more than you do. But you can rest assured that all delivery services employ someone that will have a bad day.

You are taking that chance any time you have a delivery, if you do not want that risk pick your orders up yourself. You and your wife were not harmed so as far as life goes it could be a lot worse. Take your bride out to eat and find something to relieve your stress. Life is to short to waste your time being upset over something you can not change.
 
You don't have to sue for money. Go to the weekly General Sessions and file a complaint. Tell them you want your property repaired, or, they can pay the bill to have it repaired. Sometimes if damage is done and it cost money, then they get charged with an accident which no UPS driver wants on his record. So he will either come out and repair it or, pay to have someone else repair it for you. If he wants to do neither, the judge will tell you to have someone repair the damage, bring the bill, and he will see that you are reimbursed. And I think here it cost $35.00 give or take to file the complaint and come to court. If you win, the person who did the damage will have to reimburse your $35.00. So you really are not suing for money. Just filing a claim to get it fixed and it is a strong warning to the drivers from the center he is from that you do not tolerate destroying what you have been trying to protect. There always seems to be one or two that are not so great at respecting other people's property. You can always gain that respect with missing a day at work to come to court and then having to come out and repairing what he destroyed. He will be given a certain amount of time to repair your yard, 2 weeks to a month, and if he does not, you file again and he has to pay for the second filing, and the judge will give him the choice of fixing it or getting his check garnished for repairing and non payment of having it fixed before. Not sure if UPS likes garnishments of wages. Never heard anything about that, but, most places will not keep you employed if it happens,

I almost made it to retirement, then had a foot go though a huge pallet that held large boxes of copper at a transformer plant. The boards were wide and my foot fell through the slat and I fell backwards off the dock with my foot caught in the pallet at the edge of a high dock. As I fell, my foot remained in the pallet and my head swung and hit the concrete wall. I hung there longer than I wanted and no one was coming to help me, I thought, and grabbed the door strap and tried pulling myself up. But than as I was doing this, a man saw me fall from afar and came to help me get back on the dock.

Had fluid running out of my nose, head ache, double vision, and busted my foot and ankle up. Was not allowed to drive a vehicle for 8 years. I am lucky to have lived through that injury. Blood pressure would go over 200/100. You just do not realize how much a head injury can change your life.

Now my foot goes through spells of aching and I have to wear a tight brace to walk on it. Oh well, As least I lived through it.

I was 7 years short of retiring with full benefits.
