These photos were taken Sunday. We weigh in on Saturday
Gary was out today and is guessing he is about 850. Probably a much better guesser than I am.

We have to go through some really hot weather June-August and he should slow down on the gain then. We keep a monthly weight on them during the growing time. From now until August.
Plus he will be going to a few jackpots before hand.
He was a March born calf.

He looks good, I have some concerns about his feet, he looks like he wants to toe out, I would get his feet trimmed and keep them trimmed this should help keep them pointed forward. He has good hair it just needs to be worked more. Calf should be rinsed, combed, and blown out every day; this will help get the hair going all in the right direction and give it that "pop". Need to brush the leg hair out with a rice root brush; it will help give him the appearance of thicker bone. Pour the feed to him now; it is always easier to hold a calf then to catch one up. There are so many different products that you can feed to hold a steer these days a keep them fresh you should not have a problem. If you try and hold him now he will just grow taller, you don’t want that.

Keep up the good work,

Thanks VCC. I was looking at his feet the other day real close too. I thought regular trimming was a must. He will need a neck sweat for sure. We are going to start cranking him now and getting him fat.
We have Kirk Steirwalt clinic this May here and my son is going to go to that.

we weighed on Saturday and he was 950. We think the scales were about 80-100# off. He is way smaller than last year's calf and that one weighed in March at 880. So we will weigh him again in a month or so and see how he is doing. We will use the breeders scale this time. I know it is right on.
