Update on cow with bloat first posted 5-6-06

Hi all, just thought I would let you know how the cow came out. She survived and is eating again and gaining weight. She delivered a dead calf on May 13. She had just started to make bag and did not get very loose in the back. I really believe that nature took over and had her get rid of the calf. I know the vet said the calf was alive when he examined her. But I also know that the bloat disappeared and she started to recover after she lost the calf. Thanks to all that had an opinion and gave their support. I sure am glad that I didn't decide to put her down. She is doing great. But I do believe I will sell ship her when she is back in good condition.Thanks again and I just want to say that for the most part we have some really great folks on here. I always enjoy and get a lot of info from Msscamp and Alice. You are 2 very nice and helpful people. There are many others also.

Thanks for the update. Sorry you lost the calf. At least you were able to save the cow. We have all probably had a similar experience. It's never fun but goes with the territory. As ol CB would say "you can't lose'em if you ain't got'm".

So do I, and you did all you could. I'm sorry you lost the calf, but like Texas Pawpaw said, you did save the cow. When I was growing up on my Daddy's dairy, stuff like this happened from time to time...and my Daddy (who was my all time best boyfriend) said, "not everything works out, punkin."
