I would have overnighted him to youHe was just scared - you are bigger than a puppy or chicken. Plus, they're non-venomous.

I'm lucky that I've never lived anywhere with poisonous snakes. The only thing I've ever seen in my farm is black snakes, garter snakes, and a rare green snake. My grandfather said he never saw any here either.
It's interesting how snakes are territorial. I grew up in a place where rattlers and copperheads were just a few miles down the road, but neither us or our neighbors ever saw any.
