Understanding cattle prices

I am new so forgive my ignorance. My question is, when you see sale results that say avg. price for steers is 125.00.

Is this the total sale price? or is this the price per pound? I Say you have a 400lb. steer what is it worth in $?

Your $125.00 would be per cwt. In other words $1.25 per lb.
