Have a 12 month old heifer lookin like she is bred. I thought I could bump a calf and it looks like she’s got an udder growing... Vet is coming out tomorrow.

I have one this year also. Was putting cidrs in a group 3 weeks ago, thought one sure looked to be bagging. Sure enough, I guessed her at about 7 months along. She had to of bred at 6 months old. I don’t understand how a 600lb calf can stand for a 2100lb bull.

She can make a pretty good cow, if you'll be able to get the first calf out of her. They later have similar calving capabilities as an average cow in the herd. My personal experience was successful with these teenage moms, but have seen plenty bad experiences in neighbours farms. It's just a matter of luck I guess.
Good luck with yours! Keep us updated.

Well she calved about three weeks ago. Awful lot of white on that straight angus baby... Hardly had to assist with calf. Mom is out on pasture with baby and they come up for feed every day.

I’m in agreement with Grit, there’s something else other than Angus in that calf. My guess would be Simmental or Holstein. Nice calf regardless, glad the situation turned out good.

Haha ya think? I know the breeder the bulls the cows. I sure was surprised and so was she!

Stack em up and see what comes out. There is a reason some are against line breeding, afraid of what might come to the top.

Any intact bull calves around her that time?

Thinking she got a visit or went visiting when she came in heat???....Any bought cows in the neighborhood with bull calves of "questionable" parentage? Possible dairy calf? Regardless, great that she had it and is doing okay. Have a heifer now that is about 15 months with a month old calf on her. She is in a smaller lot with the calf and they are doing okay. Didn't see that coming until it was almost here, literally. Got lucky on her.
