Udder growths

I have a @ 14 month old heifer. Possibly bred/probably not. There are one or tow growths between her teats. Husband says one resembles a sweet potato tuber. Any ideas? :help:

Do they look like they could be smaller and underdeveloped extra teats??

No. Teat are undeveloped and normal. This is a 5-6 inch long growth, with three sections separated by an almost closed off ring. The bottom one is shaped like an upside down mushroom, the other two kind of like peanuts. There is no hair and this is toward the front of the udder.

Do you have photos of this growth? Have you had a vet look at this? I am aware of extra teats, as TB mentions, usually above and behind the rear teats, but what you describe doesn't sound normal. I know I'm always the first one to call a vet, but if you are going to have her preg-checked anyway, I'd sure point this "growth" out!

my guess without seeing it and from the description is warts. they grow in funny ways due to gravity when on hte underside sometimes.

I agree, sounds like it is growing along a milk vein.

Sent a question to the vet. He said best guess without looking at it is a papilloma. With it that large, any idea what to do with it?

Wouldn;t you deal with them the same as any other wart?

I'm sorry, I can't see them well enough to say. Yes, I even tried the "Control +" thing, but if you can enlarge it and send THAT to your vet, you might be moving in the right direction.

all of the cattlewarts ive ever seen have gone away on their own eventually, with no treatment. i had one with warts on two of her teats one time and it grossed me out to watch her calf suck those warty teats but i was the only one who it seemed to bother.
