greybeard your good at researching topics. Have you ever researched to see how the quality of health care in the U.S compares to the rest of the world ? I am not talking about the cost of it or its availability. The way i look at thoes subjects is that no matter how affordable or available health care is. It's sort of like haveing a spare tire that is flat when you are broke down in the middle of no where and there isn't any cell phone service or motorist passing by that you might get help from.

Compared to Europe or Canada, it's affordable but there's a long wait and the care may not be as good.

Here, you pay out the nose, but the best care is available and generally in a timely manner, if you can afford it.

Health Care goes hand in glove with nutrition to = overall quality of life.
I believe a good yard stick for overall quality of life is life expectancy.

In 1950 USA was 9th in the world between #8 Canada and #10 Germany.
Current life expectancy
1. Japan 84.3
2. Switzerland 83.4
7. Australia 83
10. Norway 82.8

15. Canada 82.5
20. Germany 81.7
40. USA 79.1
(I was very surprised we were this low, thought we were in the 20s with 80-81)

Then why are we 40th in the world in life expectancy?
Is being ahead of Mexico #66 at 76.0 and Russia #97 at 73.2 good enough to claim Best in the World.

When googled basically where the U.S stood as far as quality health care. It said out of the 11 wealthiest countries the U.S comes in last.

Does this factor in people’s personal choices regarding their health? It would be interesting to know where America ranks in obesity with everyone else.

I am not asking about the affordability of the healthcare. Just the quality. If it's free but not any good I see it being of any use.

What about insurance companies having major influence on the course of medical care?
What about pharmaceutical companies pushing drugs?

So how does personal choices (aka refusing medical advice) reflect the quality of healthcare?
Education, society and families indoctrinate members in what is best through education. ie Amish families teach biblical health laws to their children vs American society teaches children fast and cheap (McDonalds) with 32 oz big gulps as best.

Yeah. All of the advertising for prescription drugs doesn't happen in other countries. Insurance and pharmaceutical corporations run things here.

Cheap food isn't good and good food isn't cheap, many don't have the time to cook a decent meal. Sugar is packed in everything. Many Americans live off of a high percentage of processed garbage, because it's cheap, easy, and available.

Americans also wait until the last minute to get something looked at, deny an ambulance, or give themselves fish antibiotics because the cost of care is so stupidly high.

Like I said, we have some of the best tech and treatments in the world, if you can afford it.
