my cow as you all know i have been posting about is huge and had her last calf dec 8 of 08 and she is absolutely huge i had an experienced rancher that is my neighbor come out and look at her today and without me mentioning it he said she may have twins....so whats the probability if she may have twins....this is my first calving i raise stockers and i wanted a good calm cow to throw in the bunch her bag is halfway full or so he vulva is floppy...ill try to get some pics
 
Not to be a kill joy - but size seldom has anything to do with what the cow is carrying

Seen skinnies lay down twins and lots of fats lay down singles

Time will tell though

Agreed, I would even venture to say that it is much more of a rarity for a toad to lay twins than a thin cow.
 
Hope for one good one, twins can be a pretty miserable experience. I know some are going to disagree, but in my opinion and experience it is much better on everyone if their is only one good one.
 
well i hope whatever it is its healthy ill get pics i mean she is huge in my eyes but the thing that makes me think twins is isnt the gesation period longer with twins or is that a myth because she is late

When was she bred?
 
We've alwasy had twins come early. The cow of ours that calved a week ago still looks like she has at least one calf inside of her, she just has a huge barrel.

The closest to full term I've had twins was a week early. From my experience twins are usually born anytime from 3 weeks early to 1 week early

This first calf heifer had twins about 10 days after this photo was taken.

ernsie pic is exactly as big as mine ill try to get pics.........i bought her from an indevidual and no preg check but i knew she was pregnant but her last calf was dec 8 of 08 maybe she bred back late
 
If she does have twins and I don't know why anyone would wish for that... :) I would pen her up where she can't move off when the first is born and have another a few dozen yards away and forget about the first one. For some cows, twinning puts them out of business, especially if you end up pulling one and she doesn't clean very well, she might not rebreed.
 
i have her and two 500-575 lbs calves that are weaned in an 3 acre pasture with a barn connected where they eat...they have free choice hay,mineral,and a pond and i give them a little feed to keep them nice
