How do you decide if you pull one off the cow?
For us, the decision to pull one was always based on the mother's milk production. If she was not a heavy enough milker to support both calves, the biggest one was pulled and bottled.
This cow is a 3rd calver and had twins right before dark. Does the cow usually go off and leave one?
Not usually. It can happen, but it is usually with 1st or 2nd calf heifers. About the only time we had an older cow abandon a twin was if one calf got seperated from her and the other calf.
This is the first twins we have had and trying to decide if we should bottle one of them. What is the longest a person should wait before giving one a bottle of colostrum?
