The tsunami went across the ocean from 500 to 700 mph 4 miles deep. I have never heard what it did to the ocean, ocean floor and sea life, it had to do something, does anyone have an answer? :dunce:

Tsunami is like falling from a high place. It isn't the falling that kills, it is the sudden stop at the end.

My uncle told me he saw one once in the pacific ocean when he was on a ship. Said he wouldn't have known it was anything special had they not pointed it out to him. He said a few days later he saw what it did and it was horrendous.

Nah... Doesn't do anything out in the deep. Only when it gets to the shallows does it start causing problems...

i think they said on tv that once it reaches the continental shelf it gains speeds of like 2 miles per second

If it did anything to the ocean floor as it went across, it probably only stirred up silt. The majority of the ocean floor is nothing but sand,canyons, and barren flats. At about 400 ft to 40 ft, that's where the majority of the bottom sea life and structure is. Reefs, ledges, undercuts etc. And that structure holds a bunch of life. That stuff is probably very silted in it takes years to clean off. I've seen it firsthand after the 04 hurricanes here and diving/fishing the ledges and reefs on the southeast coast. It can ruin the best reefs. The worst thing that the sealife off the japanes coast will have to deal with though is the oils and crap that washed back out to sea after the tsunami withdrew

We used to call that hilltoping. Even welded skid plates under our pickups.Had a many to bottom out. :lol: :lol:
