Got a new truck rifle. A friend built it for me around some specs I gave and have been real pleased thus far. Its a .260 and is now 3 for 3 on kills with the shots being from 150 - 400 yards. Its short so it can easily be wheeled out the window. Its also basically care free so the dust and stuff in the truck won't mess with it too bad. Trigger set is at 1.5 lbs, magazine is new prototype he designed and the end of the barrel is threaded so I can mount a modifier on it if I wish.

Clearly too much gun for Georgia. That little shooter needs to move to Colorado where it can really stretch out and reach it's full potential.

Nice rifle Jo! :tiphat:

The sling is hand made from a timber rattler that I thought would match the stock well. The action Predator made by Stiller out of Wylie Texas. The rifle is designed to allow me to shoot anything out to 1000 yards without having to do a bunch of math and guestimating on the hold. The scope and the round are calibrated so I have a zero for anything from less than a 100 to a 1000 yards. Haven't tried it on the 1000 yard range yet but did take this doe at 408 yards as she walked across a field. I was aiming for her head but I guess I didn't figure on her walking speed. I've been real pleased with it so far and it will drive tacks and so far I'm batting a thousand on everything I put the bead on.

Nice set up. Don't get tempted to put a brake on it.
Can't tell from the picture where did you get her, neck?

Everything I've ever heard on brakes is they cost you range and accuracy.

I've done pretty good with a modified .308 out to about 200 yards so I don't see where this would be any different.

I defer to your experience then. I would be curious to hear of any differences if you do brake it. With that short barrel I bet it thumps good

I really, really, really like this rifle. The .260 is on my bucket list of calibers to own. This would not be a truck rifle for me but a "front room" rifle as it is too nice to keep in the truck :D As with everything Jo you do not cut corners.......well done sir

I like the jugular powered red spray paint on the grass Jo.........thats serious stuff :tiphat:

Thanks Hoss, I lost about 50 fps by shortening it up but I wanted to be able to get it out the window if need be and I also want to add the can on the end when I'm hunting hogs. With a light load, its sortof cool to clearly hear the plop of the bullet hitting the target downrange. I think the snakeskin just makes it certifiable redneck. :lol2:

The brake doesn't cost accuracy or speed. I for one would be more inclined to put a suppressor on it instead of a brake. The 260 generates very little recoil

Nice rifle . What's the over all length on the gun ? I put a break on a 7 mag i have . Recoil is about half but the pressure will blow your hat off when you shoot it .
