I think every bit of snow we should have gotten got shunted north and east to UP Michigan. We could actually grow a lot of pasture on 2" of rain in the next few weeks, but the whole weather pattern has to change to do it.

They have had a ton of rain in western Washington this year. When those rain storms hit the Cascades they are snow if it is cold enough. Mt Rainier is high enough that it is always cold. Where I worked in the woods out on the west side there was lots of areas with 200 inches of rain. The potential for lots of snow. But the ocean moderates the temperature so there are days on end of 36 degrees and steady rain.
I thought I lived in cold hell.

You live in a much colder hell, mines just a snowier hell. Haha
But I wouldn't trade it for anyplace else.

There is a government service called Snowtel. It is run by the NRCS. They go regularly to certain sites and measure the water equivalent of the snow. My watershed is lumped in with 3 other watersheds. They list 19 sites, They are all listed by a name and the elevation. I only recognize one of the names. It is an old gold mine ghost town at 5,850 feet it is listed at 0%. Of the 19 sites 8 of them registered 0%. The average of all 19 sites is 25% of the annual median for this date. The site with the most water is at 7,430 feet and it is at 47% of median.
There is two ditches which provide irrigation water to this little valley. Both of the head gates coming out of the river are on my property. If I put the boards in the river and opened both head gate the river would be pretty much dry down stream.

Standoff, she finally decided I was the uglier of the two and ran off 50 yards while I tagged her baby.
An old faithful I was hoping to have one last heifer. She had the heifer but it should have cooked longer. Can’t win them all.

Sorry for losing the premie calf... yeah, we were hoping for a heifer from an old faithful cow too, but got a strapping bull calf...
Had a cow lose a 3 week old calf... he never was "right" but never could really decide what was wrong... gave him a couple antibiotic shots when he was rather slow acting, thinking maybe respiratory... but have grafted a twin on her, that one of my jersey nurse cows was feeding and it sticks to her like glue... she is not "mothering it" but not fighting it either, so hope she will do okay.... been about a week, it will be another week or 2 before we turn them out with the other cows...

Might be Curly Calf Syndrome. If it is you might think about culling both parents. It's a nasty genetic anomaly...
