Anyone have a suggestion on how to immobilize trespassers?

I am used to (and really do not even mind) the occasional trespasser onto my property. Most of the time it is just someone passing through on a 4-wheeler or someone turning around or something innocent like that. It has been raining every few days here lately and people continue to rut up my property! Last night I was on my way home from a meeting and saw headlights in one of our fields and it turned out to be 2 fools whipping donuts in what appeared to be a ragtop El Camino. I never got close enough to them to get their license plate but I will remember that car/truck if I ever see it again.
 
Well, if it is not fenced you are inviting them in. Is the land posted? Is there an entrance road? Couple of good posts and a chain locked between them will help some till the 4x4's make a path around it.

If it isn't fenced or posted per regulations I don't think they will do anything to you around these parts.

Kind of need more info. For example I wouldn't expect a corn field to be fenced.
 
Sugarman - Here's a couple of ways you can put a stop to that. 1. Dig a 3 ft drainage ditch on the inside of the driveway. 2. Put up a chain on the inside of your driveway with no marking. Considering it is an El Camino you saw, you may want to put the chain pretty low.
 
Oh, now we are talking. Boobie traps. Piano wire for 4 wheelers, buried spike boards for auto's, bamboo spiked pit trap for foot traffic............. :lol2: :nod:

My personal favorite since my property is fenced is to cut the valve stems on their tires while they are out in my fields harvesting mushrooms. 8)
 
The fields are not fenced - and I would rather not spend the money on installing gates and other things.
I was just curious if anyone knew of a quick/cheap deterrant that I have not thought of yet.
I have drainage ditches in the fields but apparantly they are not deep enough because an El Camino of all things was able to get into and out of the field without getting stuck.

The fact that this El Camino is a rag top, is worth letting them go at it for a while. I've never seen one before in person, but I can only imagine its beauty. :cowboy: Was the car in good shape?

You have to consider that I made the observation at night and they were basically "mudding" in my field, but yes it was in good shape.
The Elacamino must of had a high performance engine/exhaust system because it was loud and had no trouble making its way into and out of the field. Probably had some Buckshots or something on the back- and yes it was a ragtop!
This field was muddy! I definetely could not take my 2 wheel drive GMC in those types of places.
 
Shoot their tires with 22. :stop: Make sure they don't see you. :secret: Then call the Sheriff and let him know they had a blowout while tearin up your place. :mad: Oh and take a picture of plates while they are fixin their tire. :lol: Thats in case it takes the sheriff 1/2 day to get to your place like it does here. :???:

Not trying to offend anyone but chains,cables,ditches,and .22's are inviting another problem-lawsuits. In this day and age you would be in more trouble than its worth.Put up no tresspassing signage,make a complaint to the sheriff and ask for them to enforce your rule and get plate numbers and prosecute.Sonds like a lot of trouble and it is but its not nearly as much trouble as defending yourself in court.

I will try it- just hope they do not get curious what a chemical waste site looks like.
 
Someone on another post mentioned the game cameras. Get a picture of the vehicle and plate be hard for them to get out of that. These cameras can be hung on trees and locked, I would try to put it out of site.
 
Had this to happen couple years ago. I put out three old round hay bales and stuck some targets to them. Fired several shots through the targets and then put up signs along the fence that said CAUTION RIFLE TESTING RANGE
NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCIDIENTS.
It worked for me, when I was out that way i'd fire some rounds in the targets.
