I got that one in a email, I don't know who took it but I would have been huntin a hole.

I lived through one simular to that one when I was a kid. I was 12 years old at the time, Jed probally remembers the one that hit Forrest City. It took the roof off our house, but the next three neihbors didn't fair so well. That twister killed 7. The most that I can remember about it was, all the people crying, from the youngest to the oldest.

Well Van now that you ask the question, I am pretty sure that is the same picture I got emailed to me two years ago soon after the Grensburg, Kansas tornado. Not absolutely positive but I pretty sure I have had it emailed to me quiet some time ago.

It maybe fake but it is an awsome photo, and I wouldn't want to be that close to a twister without plenty of cover.

We do have them but not as fierce as yours I have only known two to have hit London, thankfully no where near where I live.
We don't have Hurricaines, but the North Sea can have quite bad gales, although they are mainly out at sea away from the shores, it was way back in 1953 (before I was born) when the North Sea flooded one of the little islands near our coast line. There is a part of the coast that is falling into the sea, but that is about it, snow catches London out when ever we get it, Scotland is used to having bad snow each year so is prepared for it. We are fortunate not to have that bad weather, I know we are known for our rain and fog but we realy don't get that much, fog is near non existant now, since coal isn't used anymore. It is mainly dull and overcast, grey skies with patches of blue and when it is hot it is very humid. Sorry more than you asked for, but as they say an English man/woman always talks about the weather.

Enjoyed reading it, I don't get out much, have only been in 9 states of the US, and 4 of those were drive throughs. Would love to travel over seas once in my life, but since I settled on cows, that may just be a pipe dream.

Me neither, one would assume there would be some debris flying around, least that's what I have seen from tornados, it just looks too perfect.

Man, remember that afternoon when the tornado blew the house on top of your sister, then the chick with the dog walked out and stole her slippers from you? I'd don't think I've seen you that mad since the cat peed on your broom -----> :mad: !

I agree. The lack of debris is what bothered me at first. Plus the grain bins, buildings, and trees, which appear to be right next to the tornado, seem undisturbed. Doesn't seem likely that the power would still be on, either.
The person that took the picture said the tornado touched down briefly and then went back up into the wall cloud. I guess that could explain things. Maybe the picture was taken right as it touched down and before all heck broke loose. I don't know. I wonder if anyone has checked it out.

Back in 1987 I watched a tornado about 3/4 mile away touch down in a cornfield, travel a few hundred feet, destroy a machine shed, and then zip back up into the clouds. Whole thing took about 30 seconds. There was a lot of debris being sucked up and spit out and the shed started to break up before the tornado was right on top of it. That's why this picture just didn't seem right to me. I've been wrong before.
