I took an antique tractor tour today. I wasn't planning on it, I actually heard about it on the radio yesterday. I got 3.5 inches of rain in the previous day and a half that knocked us out of ropin. I decided to give it a try. I showed up unannounced, and out of the 57 tractors in it, I knew about half the guys there. It it was actually a lot of fun. We went 23 miles, and stopped a long the way for lunch. A volunteer fire department had a BBQ fundraiser, so that was the menu. Evidently that sort of thing is a pretty big hobby for those guys. Many of them had little custom made carry alls on the back of their tractor. With coolers, tools, chains, water jugs. As fun as it was, I have enough hobbies. I doubt I do many more. Anybody else got that sort of thing going on your area?

We have that here to. Lot a kids that have never driven a tractor end up driving one to school. This was all back roads. It actually had the feel of a trail ride to me.

I should see if some of the guys here with antique tractors would like to do something like that but I would get left my antique tractor is a cut it only goes in high gear 8 mph :lol2:
 
I struggled to keep up. Every hill I came down, I free wheeled, and still had trouble. The Farmalls seemed to have a pretty fast road gear. I also like being able to hear what I'm driving. I couldn't really hear mine, for the others.

You need an overdrive on that Ford. My 8N would do about 20mph. ;-)

Then you could pass all those Farmalls and get a head start on lunch at the finish line. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Watch that young boy climb up with his Dad. I was riding like that on a tractor like that with my Dad. He smashed the heck out of my big toe in that gear box when he shifted into a different gear . We never wore shoes in the summer. I was a member of the tough foot tribe.

You might ask around, and get it started. I'd think if anybody around you had old tractors, they'd be excited about doing it. Several people stood at their mail box as we drove by, and many parked their tractors down by the road.
 
Yea one guy has 2 fully restored tractors behind me all he does is ride them around his yard though and take to shows they are trailer queens.
 
About half of these looked better than show room new, and the other half were wearing their work clothes. I liked looking at the ones with automotive paint, buffed out. It's just not me.

if I have to ever rebuild my Cub I am going to clean it up and paint it nicely but not to some extent some guys go.
 
Guy in the same county as me has a plow day every spring. They put an announcement in the paper and guys with old tractors show up to his place and hook to old plows and plow his field. I've never been, but my uncle has. He said last year about 20 tractors were out there, quite a few people come just to watch.
