If they keep widening I-35 we'll already have a highway 10 miles wide. And it's all obtained by eminent domain as well just as all other highway land. Gov't does that....not just Rick Perry. What American soil did he give to anyone??? I do recall a spanish co. was going to construct the highway but "ownership"??? I don't think so.
 
Right or wrong, Eminent Domain has been the law of the land since this country was founded. The 5th Amendment put some restrictions on it, mainly that the landowner be given just compensation and the land be used for the public good. It was a lot worse before that. Most people support it until it's their land being taken. ;-)

As for Perry, I don't know much about him except that he's been governor since W became president. That's a long time so someone down there must like him.
 
They could run Wile E. Coyote against what we have now and he'd have my vote.
