I Find it real hard to believe that I just payed more money buying a set of tires for my truck than I use to pay to buy the whole dam truck. :mad: :mad:
But also that was a many years ago.
I guess what makes it so bad I'm always remembering what things used to cost.

What is especially sad is going to the grocery store and seeing items that cost almost triple of what they cost a couple of years ago. Everything costs more and is smaller.

We are going to have to replace tires soon. I am afraid to see how much they are going to cost.

Yep, I find myself saying "That USED to cost... is is now alot higher"! Batteries are just like tires, used to buy a good battery for $35, now have to pay close to $100, or more.!!
 
Just had to replace a tire on my stock trailer, it takes a 700-15 or a 235/75R-15, almost impossible to find, but plenty of used 17 and 18 inch tires.
 
Im not that old but use to a decent size lifted truck ran 33s.... 35s seemed huge.... most of the new trucks can run 33s factory. People wonder why its so expensive to own a vehicle. That takes a lot better breaks, stearing components, motor... every thing..... plus we want all that to hold us to 80mph... and get 20mpg.
 
Tires and fuel are the same deal. You can't go without them, and the leaches know this. If everything goes up as much
in the next 4 years, as it did in the last 4 years, I might be walking barefooted.

brakes are better now than they have ever been,, you have to be hard on them to get less than 50k... we have some customers that have 100k on em ... use to 15 to 20k was it,, on a set..todays vehicles are pretty much maintenece free, till 100k...
 
Put new steer tires on a Mack the other day. Over a thousand dollars for two tires. Put a front combine tire on, it was over 6,000 but I "only" had to pay 70% of it. Over 4000. At least my 06 duramax has 16"s on it, can use them on trailers if I pull them soon enough but I put new ones on in January and have already replaced all 4 plus one extra.

I have to do more before 100k but mine is in extreme duty. Hwy. miles and light duty gravel go 100 pretty easy. Parts of the summer I'll even do a full service when I still have 60% oil life left.
 
Duramax little different story,, and as for as '''Routine''' maintenance .... but brakes , belts hoses coolant, tuneups, trans service etc. can go 100k . he#@ most dont even have fuel filters on the gas burners anymore... dexron 6 auto transfluid is a high milage fluid ......... thats not to say we dont check these items during routine maintenace.....
 
Ever count how many tires you have in service on your farm at any given time. It's shocking.

As soon as I get my Duramax out of the shop I need to negotiate tires with Les Schwab (NW tire dealers) for my HD3500. Part of my plan is I just deal with one dealership, so believe it or not, earlier this afternoon I counted active vehicles on my place that they service my tire needs. 36 active tires that need replaced or serviced ...... And I'm a little guy.
 
Oops, forgot tractor, manure spreader and wheel barrows ...... Make that 47 active tires :shock:
