Time with bull

Cows calved January thru March. I had one that was late that calved May 9th. I put two bulls in with 12 calves on April 20. I was planning on pulling bulls On July 20 that would be 90 days preg check days and AI anything that may not be breed. Does this make any sense. I have bee trying to keep eye on them and haven't seen one in heat in about 2 weeks.

Too late now but an AI program gives you the most benefit at the "front end" of a breeding program . Certainly can help you tighten the calving window.
And you don't have to spend day after day watching for heats. Next year you might want to consider synching as many as possible to AI breed on the first day of breeding season then let the clean up bull do their thing.
And with the current program you explained the "harder" breeders would get AI. Is that a good investment ?

I totally agree with your assessment. I was offered loan of two quality bulls and got in too big a hurry. I should have AI d everything first. Another concern was I bought most of this group as pairs and hey had already been exposed for a couple of weeks. I plan on AI next year then clean up bull.

It makes sense to cull those cows that did not become pregnant. Ninety days is plenty. AI is for next season, as stated above.
