First, Thanks,Flaboy,msscamp, bez, dun, for all the help, you have given me with your replies, and thanks, to all the other people that have replied to my questions. My health is gone and tomorrow I go back to the heart doctor and today he said no more farming little creek. Retire for good and watch the grandbaby grow up. So how do I list my heifers in the farm bulletin to sell. They are one year old in july, they weigh around 800 to 1000 pounds, the owner I bought them from said they are called a F1 class animal. Are they replacment heifers, yearlings, and what do I look at from the market reports for the price I should receive for them. Thanks for the last time and keep being humans that care for their fellow humans. Little Creek, but please reply to this last question if you can.

I can't give you any reliable advice, but I sure do wish you the best of luck. Just because you don't have cattle anymore doesn't mean you can't stick around. Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear of your health problems. Any way you can stay around some kind of animals? they are supposed to be good relievers of stress.


F1's around here would sure sell as replacements. (it means first generation cross - they are the offspring of two different breeds and again around my part of the country they are generally hereford brahma cross, but can be anything really)

no more farming?...that just means its time for you to start teaching the grandchildren how to farm :) ...teach them how to raise them heifers...my grandchildren love to come lend me a helping hand around the farm when I come across stuff I cant do because of my age :) ...and I love to see them get interested in farming

Little Creek, I'm sorry I can't help you out with going about selling your heifers, but I would like to say, sorry to hear you have to stop. Don't let the health issues stop you from everything though. When one door closes, another one opens, we just have to see it. As HeritageFarmBoy suggested, now is a good time to get another generation started.

Little Creek, I'm so sorry to hear that you have to give up farming. :( :( As far as your heifers go, tell everyone you know about your heifers - it might take a little time, but word of mouth travels pretty fast and I'm thinking you will probably have a buyer before too long. They are definitely yearlings, and they could very well be replacement heifers, as well. I can't say that for sure as I've not seen them, but you would also do well to call your local sale barns and ask what yearling heifers that weigh what your's do are bringing and that will give you a starting point. I will miss your posts and I wish you the very best! :)
