Thoughts on coughing cow

I have an older cow, without looking about 9 or 10 years old. She has had a dry cough for 4 to 5 months. Vet has looked at her twice, no answers. But she is second on the pecking order and has good weight, gets all the feed she wants and holds good weight. Stool is normal, no temp, acts normal, no throat blockage. She just has a dry cough and I only notice it at feeding time. So no problems, vet says HUH? And all is normal other then she coughs when she comes up to feed. Up on vaccs and worming. But the cough is new as of a few months ago.

Any thoughts?

So it sounds as if she coughs when she is actually moving around? Only thing I would consider is some kind of lung disease, be it cancer or otherwise. If she goes tit$-up on you, cut out her lungs and you'll have your answer.

Real dry and/or dusty feed can cause a cough. Usually it just means that she has a cough.

I had a cow kinda like that, anytime she would trot or run her tounge would stick out and she would cough. I always just thought it was some lung damage from when she was younger?? She would even do that when it was cold?? B&G

I imagine animals can develop an allergy to something just as humans do.... SOMETHING is tickling her throat.

She's the only one with a cough and they have been on different sources of hay this winter, I don't feel it's dusty or dirty. She does seem to only start coughing coming to feed, so maybe she's just excited. At this point my biggest worry about her is getting caught behind her in firing range when the new spring grass comes in. :shock: :yuck:

Even a rain coat wouldn;t protect you, more like a wetsuit would be needed

ive got the same issue with one of mine..had it for months..same as yers...no ideas on it here either
