Thought it sounded neat for a photo show and tell while we are on hiatus from the contest. I have one inparticular that I will post a pic of and tell about tomorrow. Post a pic of your favorite and tell us what brand it is and how long it's been warmin yer mellon.

Ok, I ain't skeered. Only pic I could find of it. Palm leaf, but I don't know what brand. Been wearing this one in spring and summer since 2007. It's ugly (so am I) but it keeps the sun off.

You just can't beat Palm leaf. I prefer Atwoods brand. I didn't get a chance to photo mine, but I will.

He77 GB somewhere underneath that growth is a good looking fella. ;-)

The caption under the original picture says:
"4pm Saturday. I'd been up since 6am friday burning brush piles"

It was our first big burn and I wanted to make sure nothing got out of control, so I sat on them all night and till the next day when my wife brought my truck back from our home in town and relieved me. I was a whipped down puppy.

We finally tossed out the hat that saved me last year when we moved so no pictures. I've got a few others that are troopers but they don't match up. It was a George Strait felt Resistol that I pulled down over my ears when I got hung up and drug through the rocks. The inside was caked with blood. The doctors all agreed that it saved my life.

Oops I forgot all about starting this thread.

So here is my daily wear in the summer. It 4 years old, has been run over, stomped in the mud, burned, you name it. It's a Atwood Palm so I just get in the shower with it on and soap it up, wash it off and reshape it, then just let it dry.

This one gets the most wear. It's a 4 year old Seratelli 10X. It's feeds cows in the rain, sleet, snow, and has been to he11 and back. It's the best hat I've ever had. This winter will be its 5th, not many hats will stand up to the abuse this one has and last.

This one is special to me. It was my Dads when he was 2-3 years old. It's a Resistol and was bought new around 1960 or 61.

no photos because i finally cremated my old partner of twenty or more years....I don't even recall the brand but it went thru a lot of evils with me...wore a hole in the crown from me taking it off and putting it on with the same hand over the years. the brim gave up its shape years ago and it made a great sunscreen .

I replaced it with a cheap straw in the summer and an Indianan Jones in cold weather....I have some dress hats that are all ages with the oldest being over 40 years old. Got it in Colorado Springs when I was at Fort Carson in the early 70's. It is my winter riding hat....

I wear a lot of farm baseball type caps as well....right now I am sporting a Virginia Tech logo cap.

someone just sent me a photo of me from last week and it has my current summer straw on display....
but it is such a pia to put photos here...I may do it later.

easier.....it is the same hat in my avatar.....

After this, I don't think my selfie was so bad. Calling Tennessee Tux. :D

This is a Stetson I bought when I moved from KY to Denver in 1980. I bought it from a Western store that is not one of the chains. I moved back to Denver in 2005 and I could not find it. I was in Casper from 1981 to 1987. Do you guys in Wyoming know if Lou Talberts is still there? I loved looking around in there. For my good friends from Texas, they had a Diamondback Rattlesnake full mount that was spectacular. Star came up as I was doing my self potrait and started licking the hat.
I hope I am not as ugly as that guy above me.

I thought maybe I had killed this thread...

For most of my life I thought their were only 2 hats. Stetson and Resistol. Resistol in summer, Stetson for winter and places where ya might want to dress a little better. First time I heard of a Seratelli, I thought they were a cheap Italian imitation--goes to show what I knew about hats.

You must be pretty young then if your Dad was 2-3 yrs old in '60 or '61. Pretty good sized hat for a little tyke 2-3 yrs old, but I suspect he's filled it well his whole life. When my dad passed, I got his 2 Resistols, kept one (hanging on the wall today) and gave the other to my youngest son--he has since given it to his son.

Good looking hats all.

Inyati, you need a little triple 13 or something on that chin, it might be a little low in Ph too. There's a cure fer that, but I can't go into any details on a family forum like this one. Mine's about ready to bale right now.. :lol2:

My dad always had a couple of less than docile hereford cross cows, and if wanted to get close to one, he'd take his hat off, hold it out by the crown in one hand at arms length, and start making small circles in the air with it . Said it calmed the cows down and made them watch it instead of noticing he was getting closer all the while. I tried it once and got run over.

greybeard, my lifelong best friend, Sam, we went through college together. I saw him this spring. He said I needed to put some manure on it. I told him I was not going to give up on it. I would love to have a big beard like yours.
