Thinking about a new bull

Help Support CattleToday:

Aaron, some good looking bulls there. Noticed they give a BW EPD but there are no CED EPDs shown which I am told is a better measure of calving ease. Don't you use CED up north?

Thanks for the link.

Yes, we use CED, but in the CBS catalog, and in most catalogs with a lot of bulls to sell, they try to keep it simple. A lot of commercial guys still focus on the 5 main traits.

Five main traits?

Does he have balls?
Can he walk around for at least a little while before getting fatigued?
Does he have a black hide?
Does he act like he's going to require me to put in new fencing to keep him home?

I'm stumped ... what's the fifth trait? Maybe "He looks like he'll eat lots of grain."???

;)

I saw a couple massive horned Herf bulls in Denver at the stock show. Do they typically have more rib and muscle than other English breeds, or was I just looking at unusual specimens?
