My friend who traps them in Alaska shoots them behind the shoulder with a 22. Says he gets nearly as much for the skull as he does for the hide.

This was his partner who weighed 147 lbs. Josh said wolf in the trap was bigger but was thin from being lame and having no partner to hunt with. They killed two cows for our neighbor a week apart last November.

22 short between the eyes and a plastic bag over the head so no blood or saliva escapes at the trap site. My closest friend is the most reknowned wolf trapper and cougar hound man in most of North America and he is only a phone call away for advice. You can google Dan Lay.

we took our dogs to get fixed last year at the vet and I was pretty surprised they all weighed between 125 - 140 lbs. (females) I guess they have a lot of muscle. (Akbash)

oops.. asked the wife and she said no they were all between 115 - 130. still pretty big for females.

That’s like when I told somebody that my Pyrenees looked bigger because of all his hair, they said that’s still a lot of dog there too.
I think if I were going to have livestock guard dogs again I’d have those Anatolian shepherds ( I think they are the same or similar to the breed you mentioned but my spell check won’t leave that word alone it changes it every time, for some reason. )
I believe those dogs would be a bit more heat tolerant and less hairy than Pyrenees.
