There Back

Help Support CattleToday:

my first job out of college...the place we raised heifers was about a quarter mile from the local catholic church...

it was a big place and we would have a hundred or more heifers there...I rolled in every morning and called up the heifers and fed and counted and checked them....was not usually the first stop of the day and often was one of the later morning chores.

I had a pretty distinctive voice and can generate some volume....

had an occasion where I was introduced to a fellow I did not know and we were chatting and when he found out what I did and where I worked......he looked at me and stepped back and said are you the fellow who is louder than the whole congregation singing? I had no idea what he meant....seems that when I called the heifers they had to stop the service in the church til the heifers came up...

I asked around a a couple of folks confirmed that it was a regular occurrence and they had sort of gotten used to it.

After that I tried to time checking the heifers outside the church service schedule.
