The latest storm...

We started out with sleet/freezing rain Friday night into Sat and by early Sunday morning, we had about a foot. Major drifting tho, with some drifts hitting 4' high. Overall we faired alright.

How did everyone else do? I have heard there was a lot of Ice damage in Iowa, only because hubby got called out and sent there yesterday. Word was power lines were as big as pop cans, they had so much ice on them.

We got about a foot on sunday. A bunch of mail boxes were down.(thats from our lovely snow plow drivers...) Drifts in the roads were about 3 ft high, snowplows didnt get anything cleared untill bout noon. Funny how when a storm hits just about everyone in town drives a truck...snow goes away and its back to those sporty little cars.. :) Pretty much our first "taste" of winter up here (not normal for minnesota) Everything up to now has been pretty calm. We are supposed to get a storm "of equal or greater force" wednesday..so thats something to look forward to. :roll: Oh well..thats what you pay for living up here...

We got 13.5" in the last one. They say Wednesday another 6" and Thursday-Friday another 10-12". No snow all winter and that ground hog said spring in 6 weeks! That's what we get for listening to a prairie dog! :roll: We will just have to see what happens!

Sorry, Mitchwi. I will be envying you when it is 105 degrees here in June and all the ponds have dried up. We have had a very wet winter here and I certainly hope that it keeps it up into Spring. It has been so dry here the last couple of years I am just not seeing stock ponds that I never noticed before driving around. I guess they just haven't had water in them.

I am hoping that the price of hay goes down accordingly. I got a square bale to send with July to the slaughter house on Saturday, and they wanted 9.50 for a square bale of coastal!!!!! That's more than they wanted last year at this time, and last year at this time, there was no hay to be had.

I fear that hay will do what gas did. Get high and stay that way.

Down here in southern Minnesota we got our first 10 inches of snow on November 9 and except for a couple days around Thanksgiving we have had snow covering the ground since. My friends had reservations around Alex somewhere for a snowmobile trip when left here we had 6 inches on the ground when they got there it was brown everywhere. So they had no choice except to drink beer alot. It was probably safer than usual they coudn't drink and snowmobile that way.

We had 18 inches over the weekend, 3 yesterday, and the forecast is for another 10 to 18 tomorrow night and Thurs. I had 25 calves last week and there will be another 25 this week. :cboy:
