Looks like its that time of year again. summary from last weeks sale:

# Feeder Steers $4.00-$9.00 lower
# Heifers $4.00-$9.00 lower
# Steer Calves $6.00-$12.00 lower
# Heifer Calves $5.00-$10.00 lower
# Killing Cows mostly steady

I was at a sale last night and saw the same thing. Steers were much lower than last month while heifers stayed stable. 1700 steers and heifers sold last night and I was in the market for heifers. Would you believe that I did not find a single heifer that suited me? Maybe I am too critical

I am adding to my operation and am looking at quality. I was looking for black angus and herfs. Would you believe that herf heifers are almost impossible to get in my area? The last two months I have watched over 3,000 cattle go through the sale and there have only been 5 herfs go through. Who is holding on to all of these :?:

Let me look around for you some Hoss. I may be able to find some you like around here. You are right though. Herfords are not as plentiful here as they once were.

The few Herefords that I see are bringing WAY less than other similar weight calves. Although I am seeing more of them on farms - not seeing very many herf calves - mostly black bulls with those hereford cows.
