Spraying mesquites. Thank you bird dog for the help. I'll thank you again if they die. :lol2: :tiphat:
It's hot out here. To push through I'm pretending I'm highgrit and them mesquites are Muslim.... Kill em all. ;-) :cboy:

I don't know what your spraying Fenceman. Element did a good job for me, it killed pretty much every hardwood that I sprayed.

I used primarily Sendero. First time I've used it. I had a backpack of remedy and diesel. Some of the bigger ones got the Sendero foliar and remedy basal. Got some good and detailed advice from Bird dog. My only concern is some of the trees had leaf damage, appeared to be from insects. I'm afraid this might affect the foliar sprays effectiveness.

Insect damage will effect it some. Its hard to determine how much. I wouldn't worry about it. You are not going to get 100% kill anyway and will need to touch it up next year. I have a bad grasshopper problem most years and by late July they have usually ate the leaves off of the small mesquites. That is usually means its about time to give it up for the year on the small plants. The bigger trees won't be affected as much so your basal spray will still work.

Looking at your picture, you have your work cut out for you. I would concentrate on the basal spray to get the bigger single trunk ones on the road to death.

Thought I would update after two weeks. Most of this was hit with Sendero and remedy. Probably over kill. This is a lease pasture, and it's important to me to please the landlord owner.

Hard to kill multi stemmed.
After photo. Same view as in my op
Almost all tree's showed hemorrhage of sap. It's kinda like blood trailing a deer, and you start seeing that bright frothy stuff. :cboy:

23 fall calvers on this place. While walking through the brush with my backpack sprayer, doing touch up. I kicked up this new pair. First calf of the season I think.

Cedar is a little more in my wheel house. I've made it through many a hard time as a cedar chopper. :lol2: :lol2:
I've got a pretty good stockpile of tordon22 and grazing p+d. I've had good luck on my own property using both to burn the foliage. Then using fire to finish the job. Cedar doesn't tolerate fire.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

No good suggestions from me. It can be a challenge. I have been using power pellets (Velpar) with some degree of success but on the big trees it can take a couple years. Cutting and treating the stump may be much better.

I checked a few this weekend that I treated with the pellets over a year ago. A few are dead, some you can't hardly tell they were treated, but most are slowly dieing. I went ahead and threw out some more pellets even though this is not the time to put them out. The directions say not recommended for clay soils and that is what this is so I guess I shouldn't be expecting miracles. Tordon leaf spray seems to work the best on the small bush type trees.
