The wedding has been and gone and lets hope that is it, I have not seen a bit of it on TV. I've even managed to miss it on the NEWS. Hooray. My Son says I'm a Heathen, in not supporting it, maybe I am when it comes to the Royals. but I just don't care.
 
I understand why it's a big deal to many in the UK, (and also why many of you don't give a hoot, either).
But why do so many people here in the US care???

Kerley , I have you all in my payers. No words can comfort at this time, with the devastation and destruction that mother nature has inflicted upon you and your state. My prayers for anyone that is experiencing horrific weather, it is a fate not wished upon my worst enemy .

HD, you're such a kind gal.
Kerley's right, though. With new horror stories and climbing death tolls in our own backyard, it's kinda hard to see all that gushing and extravagance and not have it stick in your craw a bit.
 
farmwriter it sticks in the craw without anything else happening in the Country. It is all the money spent in such hard times people are having, picking up from the recession that has not hit rock bottom yet, the cuts in health and education and welfare payments, then the rising cost of Gas Electric and water rates, and they still find money to put on such a show, it is beyond me to justify it all. Pomp and ceremony doesn't do anything for me.
 
I think they ought to treat things like this like they do the Super Bowl. Let all the major networks bid and let the winner be the only one that broadcasts. That way I can stay away from it if I choose and not have it rammed down my throat.
 
Chrisy, I don't think it's all over - it's just started ;-) . I did not watch the wedding but I went into a mall on Friday and every TV had a crowd of agog onlookers. What I did see was two young good looking people starting a 'fairy tale' life together.....
 
Seems like it's just taking taxpayer's money just so they can live out a fairy tail.
But we have the same thing going on here up in the white house. :mad:

I still wish they would have eloped (Thursday night) and left all of those media boneheads that thought we cared to watch it eating all that money they spent boring the public. Have thought of the network bid idea to keep the world from suffering non sense but I like it.
 
I will say she's probably the best looking future queen of England ever and I certainly can appreciate the historical significance but there is plenty of problems in this country people should probably be worried about first.
 
Hubby heard on the news that our PM is donating to America for the Tornadoes and stuff you have experienced.

I am happy for you, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

We have been devastated by floods. They have been asking and asking for people here to donate. Then they just go and give money away to overseas even though we are not sorted out over here.

I guess the next thing will be that America is donating to us while asking you all to donate for yourselves.
