I'm gonna be in Del Rio, TX. from the 13th thru the 16th on bizzness. Any CT folks from down that way want to meet up for coffee?

Hoss I thought I had been all over TX. But now know better. Don't think I have ever been close to Del Rio.

Hoss if you like to deer hunt you need to stop by the Lone Star Brewery in San Antonio, and go to the Hall of Horns Exhibit if its still open. Been twenty years since I was there, more antlers on display than you can imagine.

Fly I remember that radio station as well back when I was much younger. Must ahve been the strongest station in the country as it blasted out everywhere...Can't remember the call letters tho. XEG or something like that

For all of you who have never been to Del Rio, Texas..................You ain't missing nothing............And Hoss, stay on our side of the bridge, I mean border. Things are really bad in Mexico. The drug gangs are killing law enforcement and they like to kidnap tourist. Don't walk around with white shorts and a camera around your neck

When I was a kid, we always listened to KOMA out of OKC and we could pick it up after sunset when they turned to power up. I remember being in north western North Dakota my senior year and was able to listen to it blowing in wall to wall back in the 60's. We now live in OK and can't even pick it up. I guess the only thing that doesn't change is change it's self.

Hoss from the sound of things you might want to phone this trip in. Doesn't sound like Del Rio is a lot of fun. That's assuming the cartel doesn't get ya.

A lot of the radio preachers used to broadcast on the Del Rio station.
Keep them cards and letters coming in folks. And don't forget to enclose your gift to keep us on the air.

Some show was sponsored by White Rose Petroleum Jelly, for all the young vir... oops... I mean all you inexperienced young women out there.
(Modification mine to keep in good taste .)

'Yep that's right Ryder. And they thing had more power than Radio Free Europe.

Unfortunatley I have to go into Acuna each day. I plan to dress like a poor man (which won't be hard to do). My plan is to go in and out in the daytime and stay inside the factory while I am there. Too bad I can't carry a handgun........at least it would make me feel better.

As soon as you cross the Rio Grande you can pick up a good used M-16 or AK-47 pretty cheap. :lol2: In all seriousness....be extremely careful. That part of Mexico hasn't changed in 400 years. A life means nothing.

I was in Del Rio a few years ago and went across the bridge into Acuna just to see what it was like because I'd never been in Mexico. It was like going back in time 50 years.

Don't let em scare you Hoss. Before I graduated I lived in San Marcos. We would hit up Acuna quite often and have a blast. Never once did I feel threatened or in danger. As mentioned, you have to go have lunch at Ma Crosbys- the place is great! Wear your boots and starched jeans and you'll be waited on hand and foot. O... And don't forget to order a "Red" Corona while your there!
